1886 – Soars From the Nest

Posted: May 30, 2013

Draftfcb’s fledgling hotshop, 1886, has soared from the nest to pick up an estimated billings of nearly R100-million in its first year of business, a feat that earned it the Specialist Agency of the Year title at AdReview last week (May 23, 2013).

Other factors contributing to its win were a blue chip client list including Vodacom Financial Services and Blue Bulls Rugby Union, and recording the highest client relationship referral rating of any Draftfcb office working on a globally-aligned client after just six months on the account.

Commenting on the achievement, managing director, Wimpie le Roux, said it was an incredible win for the agency, which prides itself on insightful and relevant work, being nimble and providing brand custodians with direct contact with the people in charge of the agency.

“1886 strives to deliver pioneering thinking for brands to make them stand out from the clutter and to sell product,” he said.

“Our campaigns are birthed through-the-line, and we use whatever mediums are necessary to engage with our consumers.

“In 2013, we grew quickly from a zero base and won the Blue Bulls account in our first ever pitch. That – plus our pat on the back from our globally-aligned client – was enough to make our year. Being named Specialist Agency of the Year just adds the proverbial cherry.

“Well done and thank you to the team – a small one but one with great heart, guts and creative bones!”
