Announcement on MetropolitanRepublic Cape Town branch

Posted: September 9, 2014

In a refocusing of its business interests following client demand and resultant opportunities, integrated creative advertising agency MetropolitanRepublic has decided to close its Cape Town branch and open additional branches in new markets on the African continent.

The Cape Town branch was established off the back of the agency’s Sanlam win early in 2013. Subsequent to changes in this relationship in the past year, the Sanlam brand and corporate identity work is now fully serviced from MetropolitanRepublic Johannesburg.

Opportunities within the existing MetropolitanRepublic client base as well as new clients won in Uganda and South Sudan have required a rethink of the agency’s business strategy. Plans to establish branches beyond those already open for business in the sub-Saharan countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia and  Swaziland are under way. Further announcements regarding this rollout are imminent.

This strategy is in line with MetropolitanRepublic’s aim to be the first truly world-class creative and strategic agency made up of active, globally awarded talent sourced from around the world.

Some key talent in the Cape Town branch have been invited to take up the challenge of operating further north with the Johannesburg team members, who are eager to take their successes of its past three years of pioneering work to a new level.
