Bibi Lötter, Group Creative Director, will be joining the Radio Jury of the 41st One Show Awards in March, whilst Rui Alves, Executive Creative Director, will be representing Y&R South Africa on the Offline Jury for the Busan International Advertising Festival (AD STARS). Both appointments are a great privilege and honour and are indicative of the global respect and acclaim that they both have earned throughout their careers.
Widely considered as one of the most prestigious advertising competitions worldwide, The One Show celebrates the year’s best in advertising. “We have always recruited the best creative talent in the world for its juries,” said Mary Warlick, CEO of The One Club. “The selected jury members bring professionalism and objectivity to the One Show judging process and serving as a judge is an enormous distinction in one’s career.”
The AD STARS is a relatively new up-and-coming South Korean awards festival and the world’s first convergent advertising festival consisting of a preliminary online competition running year-round, as well as a main offline competition. The offline judging will be held in Busan August. Rui feels that it’s going to be interesting judging for this award show. “The AD STARS is a relatively ‘young’ award show and I think it’s going to be a different and exciting experience from a cultural point of view as well.”
Y&R has been no stranger to award juries in the last couple of years, with Bibi being the most recent jury representative at The Apex Awards in 2013, which is the only South African entity to reward effective communication campaigns based on evidence of efficiency. Rui was also the foreman of the Radio Jury at the 2013 D&AD Awards, which represents the global creative, design and advertising communities and celebrates brilliance in commercial creativity.
