Draftfcb Johannesburg’s Easter Egg DRive for Hugh’s Haven

Draftfcb Johannesburg’s corporate social outreach committee organised an Easter Egg Collection Challenge in aid of Hugh’s Haven, the childcare centre the agency ‘adopted’ several years ago.

Providing approximately 80 pre-school children from financially and socially disadvantaged backgrounds with a safe, constructive and educational environment during the day, Hugh’s Haven also provides an after-school care facility for older children in the Yeoville area.

Not only does Draftfcb Johannesburg contribute financially to the daily expenses of running the centre, the staff assists with maintenance of the building, running Art Days for the children and taking them on regular outings.

Ahead of Easter, the committee challenged individual employees and departments to bring marshmallow eggs and maize to the agency, where the eggs were repacked into bags the children could take home to share with their families.

The drive was so successful it netted enough eggs to pack over 80 bags with 12 eggs as well as 40 kilograms of maize meal, Tupperware containers, a TV, video machine and a box of videos that will remain at the centre to be used to feed the children and entertain them.
