Effective Measure Speed Networking 2 & 3

The Effective Measure Speed Networking event has officially gone cross-country!

While Johannesburg Publishers were invited to attend Effective Measures’ 2nd Speed Networking event, Cape Town based Publishers were invited to attend the city’s debut event in the same week.

Johannesburg attendees were hosted by Dentsu Aegis on Tuesday 19th April while Cape Town Publishers spent their afternoon at the Dentsu Aegis offices on Thursday April 21st .

The EM Speed Networking event has generated much positive feedback from agencies and Publishers alike. Both parties feel it is an efficient, creative and enjoyable way to connect with one another and uncover beneficial working relationships. “It’s genius!” remarked a Dentsu Aegis Brand representative. “So much valuable information packed into 1 hour – it’s an extremely productive use of our time and a great way to meet new Publishers!”

Both events followed the ‘Dragons Den’ style format. Agency members are gathered around a board-room table while Publishers are sent in one by one. The Publishers have to pack creative and attention-grabbing ideas and information about themselves into a 10-minute pitch. The use of PowerPoint is discouraged, meaning creativity, innovation and interactivity are the order of the day.

Following each presentation, Agency members who enjoyed the Publishers presentation and identified possible opportunities to work together will hand over an Effective Measure dollar bill along with their business card. Both parties are encouraged to find each other and discuss opportunities over lunch, which is served in the half hour following the presentations.

The award for the most creative and engaging pitch had to go Mediamark for their ‘Spin the wheel’ performance! Each agency member had a turn to spin the wheel and answer a question.

Mediamark based their questions on Effective Measure stats giving agency members a clear insight into their media properties and audiences. Prizes were handed out for correct answers.

Spark Media also stood out with their personalised presentation. To showcase how audience insights and correct targeting can impact on tailor made content, the team surprised agency members with their own faces up on screen. A personalized touch that every agency member will remember and that further emphasises the importance of knowing your audience.

Thanks to all the Publishers for their team spirit, great effort and for setting the benchmark in creativity! We look forward to seeing other Publishers challenge their originality at future events.
