Fresh Living team takes two awards at the Annual Galliova Awards

It’s no surprise that the John Brown Media team behind South Africa’s favourite food magazine, Pick n Pay’s Fresh Living, received top results at the annual Galliova Awards on the 19th of October – with talented foodies Justine Drake and Anke Roux being recognised for their outstanding work.

For the past 22 years the Galliova Food Writers’ Awards has been recognising writing excellence, accuracy of facts and relevance of food media, and is regarded as the most prestigious food journalist award ceremony in South Africa.

Fresh Living Editor and inimitable food personality, Justine Drake, was the recipient of a special award for her ‘Impressive Role in the South African food industry’. Having started in food media in 1988, Justine has been cooking ever since she was old enough to wield a wooden spoon. With several cookbooks and a number of Galliova Awards under her belt, she’s worked on and contributed to countless magazines and publications, launched food festivals and regularly appears on TV shows and radio.

Fresh Living’s talented Food Editor, Anke Roux, walked away with the ‘Best Article about Eggs’ award, as voted by the egg producers of South Africa, for her article ‘Flippin Marvellous’. Since first entering the Galliovas in 2008, Anke has received three merit awards and was runner-up for Food Writer of the Year in 2010.
