Joanina Pastoll, ECD of Lowe Cross Colours was privileged to be selected as the Jury President at the London International Advertising Festival for Design and Packaging – held in Las Vegas. Here Joanina gives a run down of the design themes that she saw coming out, “I was impressed by the quality of the judges with people like Mark Tutssel (Leo Burnett Worldwide), Rob Reilly (McCann Worldgroup) and Amir Kassaei (DDB Worldwide).” She goes on to say. “ For me there were some distinct themes: Fun and Friendly, Innovation / Use of Technology, Coke – continuing its journey of happiness and connecting people, Beautiful and Sexy and Meaningful.”
According to Barbara Levy , the President of LIA, “Joanina is certainly a well respected creative person, having won numerous international awards over the years. Having her in the jury room reinforced the fact that she truly has a good eye for design. Her comments and critique of work was always sharp, incisive and on point.”
Joanina adds, “In closing and looking at all the winners this year at LIA it reminded me that Design has a powerful place to play in all media and can enhance it. Digital is better, experiential is more powerful, animation is more memorable and work can be even more meaningful if design is used as an integrated approach. Design is as powerful as ever. “
