The judging panel for this month’s Ad of the Month included Zee Tshabangu (Mohlang), Melusi Mhlungu (Draftfcb), Marc Watson (Promise) Ryan Dupen (Havas WW), Mick Shepard (M&C Saatchi Abel), Glen Jeffery (Volcano), Coenrad Grebe (MetropolitanRepublic), Juliet Honey (Net#work BBDO) and Shane Forbes (Hunts).
“This month, we had strong contenders in all categories. It’s good to see entries that warrant hot debates during the judging process due to the excellent standard of work. The print and radio categories sparked much debate and as a result two first places were awarded in both,” said Graham Lang, judging chair and CCO of Y&R South Africa.
After the judging, industry colleagues were invited to view the work and to attend the announcement of this month’s winners.
Y&R South Africa was awarded second place for its Land Rover ‘Pop Down’ campaign in the print category, second place for its Land Rover ‘Climbing Wall’, as well as third place for Johannesburg Zoo ‘Unseen Animals’ in the out-of-home category, and finally second place in the experiential category for Hope Soap, a collaborative project with Y&R, Safety Lab and Blikkiesdorp4Hope.

Y&R South Africa is a community of creative minds who come to work to constantly challenge and reinvent; to find better and more effective ways of making our clients’ brands move their customers. And to do so in a manner that is differentiated for their brand while being relevant to their specific customer. In a phrase, we come to work to help our clients’ brands Resist the Usual. To be clear, this is not difference for difference sake; that way lies gimmickry and short-termism. This is difference and relevance, the cornerstone of all successful brand building. Our community use the power of insights, ideas and impact to deliver work that is impossible to ignore. This is what binds us together. This is what fires us up in the morning. This is who we are.
